A coupled nonlinear oscillator model was proposed to explain a mechanism of the observed EEG theta and alpha synchronization during working memory tasks. This study suggests a possible neuronal entity for flexible and creative thinking of the brain through a variety of phase-phase coupling among distant brain areas.
